Teen, 15, Charged In Connection With Home Invasion: Darien Police

DARIEN, CT — A 15-year-old teen was arrested earlier this month in connection with a home invasion that occurred in Darien in March, according to an announcement from police on Friday.

Due to the arrestee's age and the ongoing nature of the investigation, police said they will not release additional information, photos, or the individual's name.

The teen was arrested at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center on Sept. 9 and charged with home invasion and conspiracy to commit home invasion.

Police said the boy was identified as a suspect after detectives conducted interviews, canvassed the neighborhood, reviewed video and the Automated License Plate Recognition database, and executed multiple search warrants.

The incident occurred at a home on Five Mile River Road on the morning of March 5.

Three masked suspects entered the home using a key hidden outside, police said, noting a family member spotted the suspects rummaging on the front porch and called 911.

The homeowner confronted the intruders at the front door and saw at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun, police said.

"Fearing for his safety and that of his family, which included two small children, he discharged his firearm at the suspects, who immediately fled the area," police said. No injuries were reported.

Police have not announced any other arrests.
