Darien Planning & Zoning Commission To Continue Hearing On Proposed 34-Studio Salon Suite

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to continue a public hearing Tuesday on a proposal to establish a suite of 34 salon studios at 800 Boston Post Road.

The commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Room 206 of Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road. The meeting is listed as in-person.

The proposed salon suite would occupy about 6,564 square feet on the building’s second floor and provide individual studios to salon professionals. The roughly 1.17-acre property is located at the intersection of Boston Post Road and Sedgwick Avenue in the Central Business District.

The commission is also scheduled to hold a public hearing on a land filling and regrading application at 64 Gardiner St. The proposal is associated with construction of a replacement single-family home, stormwater management and related site work.

During its general meeting, the commission may deliberate and make a decision on a proposal to install a 20-by-26-foot canopy over existing fuel dispensers at 1927 Boston Post Road.

Possible action is also listed on applications for 157 Long Neck Point Road. The proposal calls for replacing an existing pool house, reconfiguring the driveway, terraces and walkways, building a tennis court, installing stormwater management and completing related work within regulated areas.

The commission is also scheduled to deliberate on regulations governing lighting and public address facilities at Darien High School. A court order sent the matter back to the commission for consideration of Darien’s sound and noise regulations and possible conditions related to an amendment to a special permit.

The agenda lists deliberations only on the school matter, as well as on any public hearings closed during the Sept. 1 meeting.

Other agenda items include approval of the July 28 meeting minutes and reports from the commission chair and planning director.
