Retired East Hampton Police Sergeant Mourned After Cancer Battle: PD
The police department announced the death on Monday.
EAST HAMPTON, CT — A retired local police sergeant, Michael Green, has died after a battle with cancer, officials said.
The department announced Green’s passing on its Facebook page on Monday.
According to the department, Green had served the local community for 25 years.

“His leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to this department left a lasting impact that will never be forgotten,” the announcement said.
In addition to his police work, Green had been a firearms instructor and earned his black belt in Jiu Jitsu.

His colleagues described him as “one of a kind,” and the department expressed condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.
“He had a way of making people laugh when they needed it most and brought light to even the most challenging days,” the announcement said. “He was respected by his colleagues, admired by those he mentored, and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Condolences were pouring in on Monday on the Facebook post.
Caitlin Beebe posted: “So sorry to hear this, I have fond memories of officer Mike as our DARE officer…. My condolences to his family.”
Another commenter, Ava DiRenzo, wrote, “R.I.P. to one of the best that the EHPD ever had. My condolences to his family, friends and the EHPD.”
