Enfield's Young LEGO Enthusiasts Competing In 2nd Annual Town Contest

ENFIELD, CT — Young builders in Enfield have a chance to imagine the town's future during the second annual LEGO Building Competition on Saturday, Aug. 8, as part of the community's America 250 celebration.

Hosted by Enfield Child, Youth and Family Services, the competition challenges participants to answer a creative question: "What will Enfield look like 250 years from now?"

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Enfield Social Services, 1010 Enfield St., and is open to Enfield residents entering grades 3 through 12.

Competition times are divided by age group:

• Grades 3-5: Begins at 9:30 a.m.
• Grades 6-12: Begins at 12:30 p.m.

Each participant will receive a LEGO Classic set containing 484 bricks and pieces to create their vision of Enfield's future. Builders will keep their LEGO kit after the competition and will compete for prizes.

The registration fee is $10 per participant, which includes a Chick-fil-A lunch for participants and their families, ice cream from an on-site ice cream truck, and entry into the competition.

Registration is required, and organizers said spots are still available.

The event is part of Enfield's observance of America's 250th anniversary, encouraging students to combine creativity with community pride while imagining what Enfield could become over the next two and a half centuries.
