Man Arrested After Enfield Chase: Police

ENFIELD, CT — A Massachusetts man was taken into custody in Enfield after police said he fled from Massachusetts State Police, crossed into Connecticut and then ran from officers through thick vegetation and a creek.

The Enfield Police Department said officers received a “be on the lookout” alert from Massachusetts State Police on July 1 for a gray Honda Civic that had fled from troopers and was last seen crossing into Connecticut on Interstate 91.

Enfield officers quickly located the vehicle, according to police. The driver again attempted to flee, but officers deployed spike strips, disabling the vehicle.

Police said the vehicle came to a stop on a dead-end road.

The driver, identified by police as Nicholas Verity, of Massachusetts, then ran from the vehicle on foot. Police said Verity fled through thick vegetation and a creek before officers apprehended him after a brief foot pursuit.

Police credited Enfield Officer Casale and Detective Whitcomb, along with Massachusetts State Police, for their work during the incident.

“Needless to say, Ofc. Casale and Det. Whitcomb will be making a trip to the dry cleaner,” Enfield police wrote in a social media post.
