Support For Our Local Building Trades in Awarding of School Construction Contracts

An open letter to members of our town government urging that contractors use local residents in the building trades when school construction contracts are awarded.

To my friends on both sides of the aisle. Congratulations on working together to unanimously pass the school construction referendum that will be voted on by Enfield voters in November. It’s really nice to witness both parties working together for our community. It is obvious to all that our schools are in major disrepair, that a fix is needed , and that it is more fiscally responsible (with state grants) to build than to repair. With that said, I would respectfully ask that when contracts are awarded, that you encourage contractors to give our Enfield residents who are in the building trades, and who pay taxes in this town, priority in obtaining work on school construction.
