Athleto Opens New Pilates Studio In Fairfield

Fairfield is the studio's second Fairfield County location.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Upon meeting Kyla Scott, the owner of Athleto, a new Pilates studio in Fairfield, she wants you to know that everyone is welcome, not just women.

"My background was training a lot of golfers and tennis players," she told Patch. "That's why I called it Athleto. We do a lot of rotation work, which is important in playing tennis or golf. We will help your game, I can't tell you how many times people have told me that their game improves, because a lot of what we do is unilateral work."

Scott recently opened the Fairfield site, her second in Fairfield County, at 340 Grasmere Ave. in the Whole Foods shopping complex, and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.

She opened the first Athleto in Wilton about 18 months ago, and she is seeing interest grow.

She was drawn to Fairfield, in part, because she has friends in town, but also because of the opportunity.

"When I saw space was open in the Whole Foods shopping center, it just made sense," she said. "It's like the same clientele, you know? And you can't check out without seeing this space. So I was drawn to that. And plus, there is a lot of traffic throughout the area."

Scott is a certified Pilates instructor, and began working with clients a few years ago from a setup at her home in Wilton.

"It was very short-lived because I started growing so fast that I realized I needed to go bigger," she said about launching the Wilton site at 261 Danbury Road.

If you come to work out at either location, be prepared to work hard.

"We have men come to our locations," Scott said. "It's not like a cute Pilates princess thing. Even though there's nothing knocking that, but it's like not our thing. There are no damsels in distress here. We all work really hard."
