Fairfield Again Participates In CT Neighborhood Assistance Act Program

The program allows businesses to receive a state tax credit for cash contributions made to approved community programs.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield's Office of Community & Economic Development is again seeking proposals from municipal agencies and nonprofit organizations for programs that could receive funding through the state’s Neighborhood Assistance Act.

The program allows businesses to receive a state tax credit for cash contributions made to approved community programs operated by tax-exempt or municipal organizations. The initiative does not involve municipal funding from the town.

Eligible projects under the program may include efforts related to energy conservation, employment and job training, child care services, neighborhood assistance, substance abuse prevention and treatment, open space acquisition, crime prevention, and affordable housing development.

Businesses may receive a tax credit for contributions of at least $250. The maximum amount that any nonprofit or municipal organization may receive through the program is $150,000.

Applications must be submitted by the close of business on April 24 to be considered. Businesses interested in participating in the program to reduce their state tax liability may also contact the Office of Community &Economic Development for more information.
