Fairfield Health Department Conducts Free 'Know Your Numbers' Health Screenings This Month

February is Heart Health month, according to officials.

News release from the Fairfield Health Department:

FAIRFIELD, CT — February is Heart Health month and the Fairfield Health Department is encouraging all residents to take an active role in their heart health by knowing their numbers. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women, yet it is largely preventable. The Fairfield Health Department is committed to providing residents with the resources and information needed to take steps toward reducing their risk.

During the month of February, the Fairfield Health Department will offer FREE “Know Your Numbers” screenings. These screenings focus on key indicators of heart health, including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar (A1c), body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference. While many of these measurements are checked during annual medical visits, it’s important for individuals to know their numbers and understand what they mean. Keeping these values within a healthy range can significantly improve heart health and reduce the risk of heart disease.
