Fairfield Public School Students Eligible For Free Breakfasts: Superintendent

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Public School students, and public school students throughout the state, are now eligible for free breakfasts Monday through Friday, according to Superintendent of Schools Michael Testani.

Funding for the statewide breakfasts is being provided for the 2026-27 school year by $12 million that was included in the latest budget signed by Gov. Ned Lamont.

"Thanks to the new state budget signed by Governor Lamont, free school breakfast will be available for all FPS students starting in the 2026-2027 school year," Testani wrote on the district's website.

He added, "Starting the day with a healthy meal makes a tremendous difference in classroom engagement and overall well-being. We are grateful for this state support and look forward to serving your children this year."

• Universal Access: Every enrolled student can receive a free breakfast daily at school, regardless of family income.
• Lunch Support: While breakfast is now universally free for all students, lunch programs remain separate. Students may become eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school through the approval of a free or reduced-price meal application or through direct certification.
