Farmington Library Collecting Halloween Costumes Ahead Of October Swap

Farmington Library is collecting gently used Halloween costumes through Oct. 10 for a free community costume swap.

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington Libraries is collecting gently used Halloween costumes and accessories ahead of a community costume swap planned for October.

Residents can donate costumes through Oct. 10 at the Farmington Library Youth Services Department. Donations should not be left outside the library or placed in the book drop.

  • Main Library: 6 Monteith Drive, Farmington
  • Barney Library: 71 Main St., Farmington (features a dedicated Children's Room and Teen/Tween Loft)

The library is accepting costumes ranging from infant through adult sizes, along with accessories such as crowns, masks, and props.

All donated costumes and accessories must be clean and in good condition, with no rips, stains, or other damage.

Halloween makeup, fake blood and face paint will not be accepted for sanitary reasons.

Library staff will have final discretion over which donated items are made available during the swap.

The Halloween Costume Swap will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the main library on Monteith Drive.

Participants will be able to browse the donated items and select a "new-to-you" costume in time for Halloween.

A donation is not required to receive a costume.

Costumes will not be accepted on the day of the swap, and the selection available will depend on donations received from the community.
