Local Supermarket Hosting Food Drive For Farmington Food Pantry

FARMINGTON, CT — Highland Park Market in Farmington will host a weekend food drive to help stock the Farmington Food Pantry.

Donations will be collected Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26-27, at Highland Park Market's Farmington location, 204 Main St.

"Every can helps support our neighbors in need," the Farmington Food Pantry said in announcing the drive.

Organizers said all donated products should be unopened and within their expiration dates.

Among the most-needed food items are canned meat, beef stew, baked beans, pasta and pasta sauce, chicken noodle soup, ramen noodles, canned or fresh fruit and vegetables, instant potatoes, rice, applesauce, stuffing, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, pancake mix and syrup, flour, sugar, cooking oil and snacks.

The pantry is also seeking toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, body wash, feminine products and baby wipes, as well as dish and laundry detergent.

The Farmington drive is part of a Highland Park Market weekend collection effort.

The supermarket is collaborating with the Farmington Food Pantry for donations collected at its Farmington store.

The pantry thanked Highland Park Market for organizing the collection and encouraged residents to contribute items to support local households in need.
