Police ID Female Motorcyclist Killed In Farmington Crash This Week: UPDATE

The 39-year-old woman was killed Monday, May 18, in a crash that involved an accused drunk driver in a pickup and a school bus.

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington police have identified the motorcyclist who died following a three-vehicle crash earlier this week on Meadow Road near Plainville Avenue.

According to an updated release issued Thursday, the victim was identified as Ciera Schultz, 39, of Bristol.

Police said Schultz sustained fatal injuries in the Monday, May 18, collision near the intersection of Meadow Road and Plainville Avenue, also known as Route 177.

According to the Farmington Police Department, the crash began when a pickup truck slammed into a motorcycle and a school bus before 4 p.m. on Monday.

Police identified the pickup truck driver as Gary Berube, who was initially charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs in connection with the crash.

Berube was released on a $250,000 bond for the single operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs charge. Police have not yet announced any additional charges.

He will appear in Torrington Superior Court on June 25, according to online court records.

The bus driver was not injured in the crash, but a child on the school bus was taken to a hospital for evaluation of what police described as minor injuries.

The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Farmington Police Department with assistance from the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad.
