Glastonbury Community Fund Awards $32,250 To Support 11 Local Nonprofits

GLASTONBURY, CT — The Glastonbury Community Fund at the Greater Hartford Community Foundation has awarded $32,250 in grants to 11 nonprofit organizations supporting projects focused on education, food security, health care, arts and culture, and community engagement.

The grants are intended to enhance quality of life for Glastonbury residents while addressing community needs. Fund officials said the latest awards bring the total distributed by the Glastonbury Community Fund to more than $170,000 since its creation six years ago.

The 2026 grant recipients are:

• Arts for Learning Connecticut — $3,000 to provide creative arts programming for all fifth- and sixth-grade students at Gideon Welles School through music, visual arts, dance and theater.
• FISH of Glastonbury Inc. — $5,000 to provide transportation for residents facing age, physical or financial barriers to accessing out-of-town medical and behavioral health appointments.
• Glastonbury ABC Inc. — $5,000 to expand math and science tutoring for students participating in the Glastonbury A Better Chance program.
• Glastonbury Chorus Inc. — $1,500 to support free choral performances for older adults and community concerts.
• Glastonbury Farmers Market Coalition Inc. — $3,000 to increase access to locally grown food, support local farmers and provide donations to community food pantries.
• Glastonbury Pride Inc. — $750 to offer a free literacy series featuring inclusive children's books and guest readers.
• Gifts of Love Inc. — $2,500 to support its food pantry and provide food, household supplies and personal care items to residents experiencing financial hardship.
• Hartford Interval House Inc. — $5,000 to provide counseling, emergency shelter, court advocacy and other services for Glastonbury survivors of domestic violence through its Breaking the Cycle program.
• Layavinyasa — $750 to present a community program highlighting Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and its cultural traditions.
• MARC Community Resources/IMPACT — $1,000 to replace aging seating at its day and employment programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• UR Community Cares Inc. — $4,750 to provide digital literacy training and one-on-one technology assistance for older adults.

The funded initiatives span a range of priorities, including expanding educational opportunities, improving access to health care and transportation, strengthening food security, supporting the arts and promoting inclusion and civic engagement.

Since launching its Community Funds program in 2019 across the 29 towns it serves, the Greater Hartford Community Foundation has awarded more than 1,000 grants totaling more than $4 million through the end of 2025. The program was established with an initial $100,000 investment in each participating community and received additional investments in 2021 and 2025 to support both annual grantmaking and the funds' long-term endowments.

The Glastonbury Community Fund is guided by a volunteer advisory committee of Glastonbury residents that identifies local priorities, reviews grant applications and recommends funding for projects benefiting the community. The committee is co-chaired by Laura Amenta and Laura Hecker.
