GLASTONBURY, CT — A portion of the parking area at the House Street Multi-Use Trail will be temporarily used beginning Monday night to support overnight work on the underside of the Route 2 bridge, town officials said.

A Connecticut Department of Transportation contractor will use the area to support work involving abrasive blast cleaning with recyclable steel grit and field metallizing of the bridge's steel beams.

The work is scheduled from approximately 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. The project is expected to continue for about two months, with completion anticipated by Nov. 30.

At least four parking spaces will remain available for residents during the project, according to town officials. A clear path to the trail will also be maintained.

The contractor will position equipment to maximize the amount of parking available while the work is underway.
