Central Middle School Continues To Progress, Latest Update Details
The new Greenwich middle school is taking shape both inside and out.
GREENWICH, CT — The new Central Middle School continues to progress, as the building is taking shape both inside and out.
Greenwich Public Schools issued its March update for the project this week, which also looks ahead at work planned for the next month.
The new 125,000-square-foot building is being constructed just north of the current school.

The existing school will continue to function until the new structure is complete and receives a final certificate of occupancy.
If all goes according to plan, the new $112 million CMS could open before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Here's work that was completed in February, according to GPS:
- Continued first-floor drywall and taping.
- Began first-floor painting and ceiling installation and second-floor classroom flooring and finishes.
- Continued exterior façade installation, utility corridor and underground infrastructure work, and auditorium and gym fit-out.
- Began kitchen equipment delivery.

A look ahead at work planned for March:
- Energize switchgear and climate control systems.
- Substantially complete first-floor drywall and taping.
- Continue first-floor ceiling installations.
- Begin classroom pod corridor fit-out.
- Continue installation of second-floor finishes and millwork, kitchen cafeteria fit-out, and auditorium and stage fit-out and millwork.
- Continue exterior civil and site work and finalize the utility corridor.
