Energy Assistance Programs Available To Eligible Greenwich Residents
Programs are available to help residents remain warm and protected from utility shutoffs during the heating season.
The Greenwich Department of Human Services (GDHS) is reminding residents that there is help with energy bills for those who are experiencing financial hardship.

- Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) – Qualifying households whose income falls at or below *60 percent State Median Income (SMI) can receive up to $645 for assistance towards their primary heating bill and get a bigger match from the Matching Payment Program. Program closes on May 29.
- Matching Payment Program (MPP) – MPP can lower the amount you owe on energy bills. For every dollar you pay and every dollar you receive from CEAP, a dollar will be subtracted
from the amount you owe. To be eligible, household income must be at or below *60 percent SMI. - Winter Protection Program – Qualifying households whose income falls below *60 percent SMI are eligible for protection from services being shut off from November 1 through May 1, with no late payment charges. Protection must be renewed annually.
- Generation Power CT (GPCT) – A private, non-profit statewide program that offers emergency energy assistance to assist qualifying households who earn up to **75 percent SMI and are experiencing a crisis or hardship in paying heat or non-heat utility bill. The assistance is targeted for people who have exhausted other state or federal government benefits and programs. Program Cycle 4 runs March 2 to March 10.

Eligible residents can speak with a case manager, who will determine the best program(s) for them based on program criteria and assist with the application process (all services are confidential).
