Flooding Reported In Greenwich, Camillo Urges Caution As Inclement Weather Continues

GREENWICH, CT — Several roads in Greenwich are being impacted by flooding on Tuesday as severe storms move through the area.

According to the Greenwich Police Department, flooding was reported on the following roads as of 1 p.m.:

• 83 Pemberwick Road
• 44 Druid Lane
• Anderson Road at King Street
• 535 North Street

Road closures are reported on:

• Cognewaugh Road at Stanwich Road
• 51 Winterset Road

Drivers should avoid these areas and seek alternate routes. Police said they will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as additional information becomes available.

First Selectman Camillo is urging residents to exercise caution while driving or being outside during the storms.

A severe thunderstorm warning for Southern Fairfield County, including Greenwich, expired late Tuesday morning, but there could still be pockets of heavy rain and thunderstorms during the day.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. A flood watch is in effect until 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

"If you can avoid travel during these times, please do so. But if you must go out, take extra care while driving. Slow down on wet roads and watch out for potential hazards in the road from the storms," Camillo and the Town of Greenwich said in an announcement.

"Heavy wind and rain could cause damage to trees and power and utility lines in Greenwich. If you see one on the street, please do not approach it," the town added. "It will be handled by the proper personnel. Call 911 in the case of an emergency and do not ever drive through high water if you see it on the road."
