Greenwich Choral Society To Celebrate 100th Season With Special Concert

Tickets are priced at $55, $45 and $25, with free admission for students in kindergarten through grade 12.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Choral Society will mark its centennial season with a concert titled "Encore! 100 Years of Song" on May 16 at Christ Church in Greenwich.

The performance is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the church, located at 254 E. Putnam Ave., and will feature a program spanning classical and patriotic works.

Selections include music by Handel and Mozart, along with operatic pieces by Bizet and Verdi. The concert will also include American patriotic songs in recognition of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary, highlighted by the world premiere of Granville Wyche Burgess' "Gettysburg Address."

The program will feature an orchestra and guest soloists Katherine Whyte, soprano; Holly Sorenson, mezzo-soprano; Chad Kranak, tenor; and Edward Pleasant, baritone. Conductor Emeritus Paul F. Mueller is also scheduled to make a special appearance.

The Greenwich Choral Society is led by Artistic Director and Conductor Dr. Christine Howlett.
