Here's The February Construction Update For Central Middle School

Take a look back at work that was completed in January and see what's ahead for February at the Central Middle School construction site.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools last week issued its February update on construction at the new Central Middle School.

The new 125,000 gross square-foot building is being constructed just north of the current school.

The existing school will continue to function until the new structure is complete and receives a final certificate of occupancy.

If all goes according to plan, the new $112 million CMS could open before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Continued exterior wall façade installations throughout.
  • Substantially completed interior framing and in-wall rough-ins throughout the building.
  • Began painting second-floor classroom spaces.
  • Began ceiling installations in classroom spaces.
  • Continued work in the utility corridor.
  • Continued exterior storm infrastructure work.
  • Continued drywall and taping on the first floor.
  • Continued high-ceiling auditorium fit-out.

Here's a look at work expected to take place in January:

  • Continue drywall and taping on the first floor.
  • Begin painting and ceiling installations on the first floor.
  • Begin flooring and finishes in second-floor classroom spaces.
  • Continue exterior wall façade installation throughout
  • Continue utility corridor and underground utility infrastructure work.
  • Continue auditorium and gym fit-out.

The project has received temporary exemptions to the town’s noise ordinance, permitting Saturday morning work. These exemptions are submitted monthly when needed.
