Man Had 15 Assault Weapons, 14 Ghost Guns In Home: Greenwich Police

GREENWICH, CT — A Greenwich man was recently arrested after police say he had a cache of illegal weapons in his home.

Michael S. Larriuz, 49, was arrested by authorities in Westchester County on June 15 as part of a multi-agency investigation led by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, Greenwich police announced.

As a result of the arrest, Greenwich detectives, working in conjunction with the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, executed a search warrant at Larriuz's home on Stonehedge Drive South in the Glenville section of Greenwich, police said.

Officers seized "numerous illegal firearms, assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and equipment used in the manufacture of unserialized firearms, commonly referred to as 'ghost guns,'" police said.

Officers recovered 14 unserialized ghost guns, 15 guns classified as assault weapons, 61 high-capacity magazines, numerous firearm components, unfinished receivers, firearm manufacturing tools and firearm accessories, according to police.

Greenwich detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Larriuz, which was approved by Stamford Superior Court.

The arrest warrant out of Greenwich remains active, police said. Larriuz is currently in custody at the Westchester County Department of Corrections.

The warrant charges Larriuz with 14 counts of possession of an unserialized firearm, 15 counts of possession of an assault weapon and 61 counts of illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine.

"The Greenwich Police Department thanks the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force and its law enforcement partners for their assistance throughout this investigation," Greenwich police said in an announcement. "This collaborative effort resulted in the removal of numerous illegal firearms from the community and reflects the continued commitment of law enforcement agencies to investigating illegal firearms offenses and enhancing public safety."
