Police Offer Update On Speeding Cameras In Groton

GROTON, CT — A 30-day warning period has begun for three traffic enforcement safety devices installed in the City of Groton, police said.

During the warning period, fines will not be issued.

The cameras are intended to "improve roadway safety, reduce speeding, and protect the community," according to police.

The cameras are installed at Mitchell Street, Thames Street and Clarence B. Sharp Highway.

"Our goal is safety, not tickets," police said. "This program is designed to slow vehicles down and make our street safer for everyone."

Police reminded drivers to slow down and pay attention to speed limits.
