Guilford Secures Over $100K After Golf Course Damage Forced Early Closure

The reimbursement is for repairs and lost revenue after a local golf course was forced to close early last September.

GUILFORD, CT — The Town of Guilford has received more than $100,000 in insurance reimbursement to cover repairs and lost revenue after damage to the greens forced the Guilford Lakes Golf Course to end its season early last September.

The Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA), the captive insurance program of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, awarded the town a net claim of $101,535.55 on Friday.

The payment includes the cost to repair the greens and nearly $73,000 in lost revenue tied to the course’s three-month closure.

Town officials said that after months of repair work, the greens are expected to be restored to their usual condition before the first tee time of the upcoming season.

"We appreciate CIRMA’s diligence in working with town staff to ensure we were reimbursed for all our covered losses,” First Selectman Matt Hoey said in a news release. "Thanks to the hard work of the course crew, Guilford Lakes will be back open for another great season."
