Guilford Selectmen To Review Police Technology Contract, Affordable Housing Partnership

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford's Board of Selectmen is scheduled Monday to consider several public safety and financial matters, including a proposed contract for new police technology, the purchase of firefighting equipment and a request from the Affordable Housing Commission to pursue a regional housing collaboration.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, at 31 Park St. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person attendance and remote participation available through Microsoft Teams.

Public comment is scheduled twice on the agenda, including a forum limited to agenda items at the beginning of the meeting and a second forum on any issue before executive session.

One of the meeting's agenda items is consideration of a contract between the Guilford Police Department and Axon for technology services, including body-worn cameras, fleet cameras and tasers. The selectmen are scheduled to discuss the proposal and may take action.

The board is also scheduled to consider approving the Guilford Fire Department's purchase of GlideScopes from sole-source vendor Verathon for $15,553.

Another item calls for discussion and possible action on a request from the Guilford Affordable Housing Commission to pursue collaboration with the Open Communities Alliance.

The selectmen additionally are expected to consider entering into a lease-purchase agreement with the Board of Education for a maintenance vehicle and technology equipment.

The agenda also includes discussion and possible action on purchasing a Hawk Sweeper for the Guilford Lakes Golf Course for $76,794.

Board members are scheduled to review and possibly approve an updated Town of Guilford Employee Personnel Policy Manual.

Another financial item involves consideration of a resolution authorizing the first selectman and finance director to establish terms and conditions for bonds, notes and temporary notes on behalf of the town.

The board also is expected to consider accepting the resignation of Mark Wasserman from the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Under requests to use town property, the selectmen are scheduled to consider allowing the Middlesex + New Haven County 4-H Fair and The Cove Center for Grieving Children to place signs on the Guilford Green.

The meeting agenda concludes with committee reports, correspondence, old business, new business and an executive session.
