Guilford Selectmen To Review Potential Emergency Communications Purchase, Public Hearing Dates

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen is scheduled Monday to consider several public safety, infrastructure and tax-related matters, including upgrades to the town's emergency communications system, the purchase of new firefighting equipment and a potential date for a public hearing to consider an ordinance amendment expanding the veterans' property tax exemption.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 3, at 8:30 a.m. and will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. The agenda includes a public forum at the beginning of the meeting for comments on agenda items and a second public forum at the end of the meeting for comments on any issue.

The board is expected to discuss and take possible action on purchasing an Emergency Operations Center cellular repeater using Capital Communications funds. The selectmen also are scheduled to consider the Guilford Fire Department's purchase of a Lucas CPR compression device, and the disposal of the town's 2003 decontamination trailer in accordance with the town's property disposition process.

Another agenda item calls for discussion and possible action on setting a public hearing for Sept. 8 to consider an ordinance amendment that would expand the town's veterans' property tax exemption.

The board also is scheduled to consider tax abatement applications for Memorial Estates at 90 and 100 Hubbard Road and allocating $130,364 in Local Capital Improvement Program funds for road improvements.

Additional infrastructure-related business includes possible action on renewing a lease with Wilscot for a Public Works maintenance trailer and discussion of a potential lease of public property at 55 Park St.

The selectmen are also expected to consider setting a special meeting and public hearing for Aug. 20 on the draft report of the Charter Revision Commission.

The agenda also includes appointments to the Guilford Lakes Golf Course Commission and Board of Police Commissioners, as well as requests to use the Guilford Green for several upcoming community events.
