GUILFORD, CT — Guilford police announced Tuesday afternoon that the scene of an investigation at a home containing potentially hazardous materials was cleared.

The investigation occurred in the area of Whitfield Street between Seaside Avenue and Seaview Terrace.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation at a residence in Guilford that contains potentially hazardous materials, according to an announcement.

Guilford police said the investigation is occurring in the area of Whitfield Street between Seaside Avenue and Seaview Terrace. It was not immediately clear what the investigation is related to.

"Several local, state, and federal partners are on scene assisting. There is no threat to the public at this time," police said.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area to allow first responders to complete their work.

Police said they will issue updates when the scene is clear.
