Skating At Guilford's Mill Pond Closed Indefinitely, Parks & Recreation Says
"We appreciate everyone's understanding as safety must come first," the Guilford Parks & Rec. Department said Friday.
GUILFORD, CT — Skating at Guilford's Mill Pond will be closed indefinitely due to unsafe ice conditions, according to a Friday announcement from the town's parks & recreation department.
"Our Parks Maintenance team made every effort to smooth the surface; however, following the recent snowstorm and foot traffic on the ice, the surface froze unevenly," Guilford Parks & Rec. said on Facebook. "This has created hazardous skating conditions that cannot be safely corrected at this time."
The department went to say the decision is "disappointing," especially during a stretch of frigid temperatures.
