How are you celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States? Watching fireworks? Visiting museums? Going to a family picnic? Stop by the Connecticut Museum and decorate a picture frame to showcase photos of these special memories!

The fun continues in the Inspire Center, a hands-on, creative space for all ages. People have been using medals, statues, and even souvenir plates as way to honor important moments throughout history. Using inspiration from items in the Museum’s collection, families can design a new way to celebrate their own special event.

While visiting, families can also check out our new exhibitions, Drawn Here: Stories of Hartford’s North End and Rebellious, explorations of moments of change throughout Connecticut history.

Families can continue the learning at home with a Family Activity Kit, a take-home bag full of activities, crafts, and images of items from the museum’s collection. In celebration of America at 250, these kits explore journeys of immigrant families moving to Connecticut throughout history, celebrate individual family history, and highlight the importance of community.
