CT Train Plan Topic Of Special Forum In Hartford Next Week

HARTFORD, CT — Hartford-area residents will have an opportunity next week to weigh in on the future of passenger and freight rail transportation in Connecticut.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting on the future of train travel on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall at Hartford Union Station, 1 Union Place.

The open house-style event is part of a series of meetings CTDOT is holding across the state as it updates the Connecticut State Rail Plan.

Residents can learn about the update, speak directly with members of the project team, and provide feedback about passenger and freight rail transportation.

The updated State Rail Plan is expected to be completed in winter 2027.

Those unable to attend the Hartford meeting can submit comments through CTDOT's State Rail Plan website by emailing StateRailPlan@ct.gov or by leaving a voicemail at 860-594-2020. The deadline to submit comments and questions is Tuesday, Oct. 13.

CTDOT is also offering an online survey and other opportunities for residents to provide feedback as part of the planning process.

People with hearing or speech disabilities may dial 711 for Telecommunications Relay Services. Residents can also request that project information be mailed to them by contacting CTDOT at StateRailPlan@ct.gov or 860-594-2020. Language assistance is available at no cost by calling the CTDOT Language Assistance Call Line at 860-594-2109. Requests should be made at least five business days before the meeting.
