Foxwoods Lands East Coast Debut Of Mike Tyson Invitational

The resort casino will host the event this fall.

MASHANTUCKET, CT — The Mike Tyson Invitational will make its East Coast debut at Foxwoods Resort Casino this fall.

The amateur boxing tournament, created by former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Great Cedar Showroom.

The event will feature amateur boxers and Olympic hopefuls competing across multiple weight classes. It will be the third edition of the invitational and the first held on the East Coast, according to a statement.

Unlike tournaments that use open registration or random seeding, competitors in the Mike Tyson Invitational are selected by Tyson based on their skill and potential. Invited fighters do not pay entry fees.

The tournament is designed to give amateur fighters an opportunity to compete in a larger venue before potentially moving into professional boxing.

“Bringing the Mike Tyson Invitational to the East Coast for the first time is a big moment for this event and for these young fighters,” Tyson said in a statement. “New England has a deep appreciation for great competition, and this is a chance for fans at Foxwoods to see some of the best up-and-coming boxing talent in the country before they make it to the next level.”
