Black Bear Spotted In Madison: Police

MADISON, CT — A black bear has recently been spotted in the Nutmeg Lane area of Madison, and police are cautioning residents to avoid interactions with the animal.

"Please use caution if you are in the area and remember to keep a safe distance from all wildlife," police officials wrote on Facebook. "Do not approach, feed, or attempt to interact with the bear. Keep pets on a leash and supervise children when outdoors."

In the event the bear "becomes aggressive, enters a residence, or creates an immediate safety concern," the department urges people to call 911.

"Thank you for your cooperation and helping keep our community safe."
