Madison Budget Referendum Approaches

MADISON, CT — On April 28, Madison residents will head to the polls to vote on the town's 2026-27 budget, which the Board of Finance is recommending at $103,760,099.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Madison's two voting districts. Absentee ballots are available from the Town Clerk's Office.

"The temporary polling location for District 1 voting during the 2026 calendar year will be the Senior Center (29 Bradley Rd), and District 2 voting will be at Brown Intermediate School (980 Durham Rd)," First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons wrote in a recent community update.

Under the Board of Finance's recommended budget, spending would increase 3.61 percent over the current allocation. For town operations, the board is recommending $36,270,305, and for education, the board is recommending $67,489,794.

The Board of Finance's recommended budget is $130,000 less than the Board of Selectmen's budget, with $100,000 shaved off of the education budget and $30,000 cut from the town budget.
