Madison Historic District Commission To Review Pedestrian Improvement Project

MADISON, CT — The Madison Historic District Commission is scheduled to inspect the proposed location of a retaining wall tied to the town’s Britton Lane, Boston Post Road and West Wharf Road sidewalk and pedestrian improvement project during a special walk meeting Sept. 28.

Commission members are scheduled to walk the limits of the proposed retaining wall and review color and material samples for the wall in its physical setting, according to the meeting agenda.

The retaining wall is associated with a broader town sidewalk and pedestrian improvement project along Boston Post Road, Britton Lane and West Wharf Road. The commission previously held a public meeting on the project, which included proposed sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, curbing, crosswalks and rectangular rapid flashing beacons.

The Sept. 28 agenda does not list a public hearing or possible vote. It calls for commissioners to inspect the proposed wall and material samples before adjournment. Click here to view the agenda.

The in-person walk meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, along Boston Post Road in front of 509 and 513 Boston Post Road. The meeting area is within the Green Historic District and includes some properties outside the district, according to the agenda.
