Driver Airlifted To Hospital After Route 6 Head-On Crash Between SUV, Dump Truck

A driver sustained serious injuries as a dump and SUV collided head-on along a stretch of Route 6 in Andover, state police said.

ANDOVER, CT β€” A 64-year-old Vernon man was airlifted to Hartford Hospital after a head-on collision between a sport utility vehicle and dump truck on a stretch of Route 6 Thursday afternoon, state police said.

The crash took place at 3:14 p.m. in Andover, according to a crash report.

State police said the man was heading back toward Vernon in a 2021 Toyota Highlander when he veered into the path of a heavy-duty construction dump truck being driven by a 47-year-old Lebanon man heading into eastern Connecticut.

The vehicles then collided head-on, according to a crash report.

The dump truck driver sustained no major injuries, but the SUV driver was taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries, according to a crash report.
