Ex-Hebron Tax Collector Accused Of Stealing $85K In Multi-Year Scheme: Police
Following an initial arrest in the fall, an investigation uncovered additional missing funds, according to state police.

HEBRON, CT — The former town tax collector is facing new charges after investigators learned the amount of money stolen from the town was significantly higher, or more than $85,056, according to state police.
Adrian MacLean, 52, of Lisbon, was charged in September with second-degree larceny.
On March 9, MacLean turned herself in to state police and was additionally charged with first-degree larceny and first-degree computer crimes.

State police were first contacted by town leadership in July 2025 about money missing from the tax collector’s office, an arrest warrant affidavit shows.
While balancing accounts, town staff initially determined $6,310 was missing from the office’s vault. When questioned, MacLean “admitted she had taken the cash for personal use and failed to deposit the money,” the warrant states.

MacLean in July 2025 submitted her resignation via email, and in it, she admitted to stealing $6,310 and expressed remorse, state police said.
The town then received a bank check on MacLean’s behalf in the amount of $6,310 as restitution, according to the warrant.
MacLean was then arrested for second-degree larceny in September 2025.
In January of 2026, state prosecutors told police the town of Hebron had hired forensic accountants. They discovered MacLean had manipulated the town’s computer systems to carry out the fraud and try to conceal her diversion of funds, according to the warrant.
The auditors’ in-depth review of the tax office’s records identified an $85,056 loss between 2021 and 2025, the warrant shows.
However, state police said the auditors encountered issues such as missing records, which may mean more money was taken.
“It is likely the total financial impact to the town exceeds this ($85,056) amount,” the warrant states.
MacLean posted a $200,000 bond, and she is due to appear in Superior Court in Rockville on March 30.
