And there was ice cream.
The Moose was even frequented by the voice of legendary eastern Connecticut troubadour Bruce John.
Here is the owners' message:
"After 7 wonderful years, weβre closing our doors
"To our amazing customers, thank you for seven years of support, friendship, and so many great memories. Weβve loved meeting each and every one of you (and your dogs!) and seeing this community come together around our little family restaurant.
"Itβs bittersweet to say, but weβve decided itβs time to close The Main Moose. This wasnβt an easy choice, but after years of hard work, weβre ready to spend more time with family, travel a bit, and make memories with our grandkids. Weβre sad to say goodbye, but the grandkids are very excited to spend more time with Mimi and Papa.
"We also want to give a huge shoutout to our incredible staff, past and present. We truly couldnβt have done this without them. Theyβve become like family to us.
"Our hope is that the right owner will come along and take The Main Moose to the next level.
"And just to clear the air, weβve heard a few rumors about why weβre closing, but the truth is simple: weβre ready to slow down and enjoy life a little.
"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our story. Weβll miss you all and will cherish these memories forever."
