Man Wanted In Meriden Arson Case Arrested In New Mexico: Police
The man was extradited back to Connecticut, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — A man was taken into custody last week in New Mexico in connection with an arson incident that took place nearly four years ago in Meriden, according to police.
Meriden police began investigating an arson that took place on Sherman Avenue on Sept. 27, 2022.
The suspect was identified as 57-year-old Andrew Butkiewicz, who police said fled the state.

With the assistance of the Roswell New Mexico Police Department, police said Butkiewicz was taken into custody and extradited back to Connecticut.
Butkiewicz was arrested Sept. 2 and charged with first-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was being held in lieu of a $750,000 bond with a court date of Sep. 22, according to state judicial records.
