94-Year-Old Escorted To Safety In Middletown House Fire

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 94-year-old man was escorted to safety after a fire broke out at a home in. Middletown Thursday afternoon, police and Westfield fire officials said.

The incident broke out at 1:36 p.m. at 549 East St., according to police and fire officials.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered a small fire in a second-floor bedroom and it was quickly extinguished, according to police and fire officials.

The man was removed from the house uninjured, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Westfield Fire Marshal.
