Families Invited to Treats in the Streets in Downtown Middletown Oct. 17
MIDDLETOWN, CT — Families are invited to celebrate fall, literacy and community at Treats in the Streets on Saturday, Oct. 17, in downtown Middletown from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Hosted by Ädelbrook and Nutmeg Lit Fest, Treats in the Streets will bring Connecticut authors, young readers and families together for author meet-and-greets, book signings, story readings and seasonal treats. Costumes are encouraged.
The family-friendly event will be held in conjunction with Middletown Recreation’s Downtown Trick or Treat festivities, held from 11 AM to 2 PM, extending the day’s Halloween fun with a book-centered activity for children and families.
A featured sensory-friendly story-time will take place at Ädelbooks and More, creating a calm and welcoming experience for readers of all abilities. The program reflects Ädelbrook’s ongoing commitment to supporting individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Treats in the Streets will also highlight the work of the Ädelbrook Transitional Academy’s student-run vocational storefronts: the Bark-ery and Ädelbooks and More. These businesses provide young adults with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities with hands-on work experience and opportunities to build vocational, customer-service and workplace skills.
