Middletown Authorities Investigating Abandonment Of Dog Fresh Off C-Section

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A dog who seemingly just had a C-section is being cared for after being abandoned in Middletown, Animal Control officials said.

The dog is being described as a "very sweet, French bulldog."

The dog was located on Saturday night at a local park in Middletown, officials said.

"She appears to have had a very recent C-section and it does not appear that any puppies have nursed from her," officials said. "She was bleeding and had symptoms of infection and mastitis. She was brought to an emergency veterinary hospital where she received fluids and antibiotics. She had an additional surgery and is doing well. We are hopeful for a full recovery."

In response, Desmond's Army Animal Law Advocates is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those "responsible for the abandonment and/or condition of this dog."

"We have received many tips already and are investigating each one," officials said.

The dog is not currently up for adoption, officials said.
