It's Going To Be A Free (Food) For All At Schools In Middletown This Year

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown Public Schools will provide free breakfast and lunch to all students during the 2026-27 school year through the federally funded Community Eligibility Provision.

The program allows all enrolled students to receive school breakfast and lunch at no charge, regardless of household income. The district said all students in grades K-12 will be eligible for the free meals.

The Community Eligibility Provision is part of the federal National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. It allows participating schools and districts to provide free meals to all students without requiring individual household applications for free and reduced-price meals.

Middletown Public Schools said families do not need to maintain funds in their MySchoolBucks accounts for regular school meals. Money would only be needed for items such as snacks or additional meals.

The district operates its own Food and Nutrition Services department and said it will continue providing meals throughout the upcoming school year.
