Louis James D'Amato, age 89, of Milford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026.

Louis James D'Amato, age 89, of Milford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. Born March 9, 1937, he was the beloved husband of Theresa D'Amato for over 58 years.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Louis carried the pride of his Brooklyn roots and his Italian American heritage with him throughout his life. He was a man of strong values, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

Louis was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport. He was also a proud American who served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.

Louis built D'Amato Brothers Builders together with his twin brother, John. Side by side, the brothers built more than a company — they built a legacy of craftsmanship, integrity, and hard work that Louis carried forward with great pride throughout his life.

Louis was deeply committed to the Milford community. He served on the boards of The Milford Bank and Milford Hospital. He was an active member of several non-profits, including the Milford Columbus Committee and the Milford Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Connecticut (HBRA) since 1969.

Above all, Louis took the greatest pride in his family. He was a devoted husband to Theresa, and a loving father to his sons, Louis and James (Mary) D'Amato. He was especially proud of his four grandsons, James, Frank, Louis, and Antonio, who brought him immense joy and pride in the years he shared with them. He was also a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth D'Amato, John D'Amato, Suzanne Johns, and Cheryl D'Amato.

Louis will be remembered as a devoted family man and a builder — of homes, of a business, and of a life filled with love, pride, and hard work.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Anna D'Amato, and his twin brother, John D'Amato.

Friends and family will gather from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Saint Ann Church (Saint Raphael Parish), 501 Naugatuck Ave., Milford, CT.
