Milford Spot Ranks Among Beach Etiquette Leaders

A recent survey gave the nod to a local beach, which was the only one in Connecticut to make the list.

MILFORD, CT — Silver Sands State Park has been named among the nation's leaders when it comes to beach etiquette.

The finding comes from Exoticaa, which surveyed 3,011 beachgoers, asking them to identify the beaches with the best and worst etiquette during the summer season.

"The study asked respondents to consider the kind of behavior that can make or break a day by the water, from cleanliness and crowding to noise, respect for personal space, and whether the overall atmosphere feels relaxed or chaotic," Exoticaa wrote.

Silver Sands State Park ranked 74th in the study.

Here's what Exoticaa had to say about Silver Sands: "A laid-back spot with a boardwalk and a famous sandbar you can walk out to at low tide. It stays mellow even in peak season, and the considerate, family-leaning crowd keeps things tidy and calm. The kind of place where people give each other plenty of space without being asked."
