Obituary: John E. Jones Jr., "Jack", age 78

John E. Jones, Jr., known affectionately as “Jack”, of Milford, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Deborah McGuire Jones for 52 years. Jack was born in Bridgeport on July 16, 1947 to the late John Sr. and Anna Sikora Jones.

A talented chef and graduate of Johnson & Wales, Jack's career included roles at Electric Boat and Grassy Hill Country Club before his retirement from Saint Joseph’s Hospital. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jack was particularly proud of his involvement with the VA's Giant Step Program, finding solace and expression through art therapy. An artist at heart, he loved woodcarving, painting, and the simple joy of watching birds from his hammock. His legacy of service and creativity will be cherished by all who loved him.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Deborah, include his children, Sarah Jones of Milford and John E. Jones III of New Hampshire, sister, Frances Voight of Stratford, four grandchildren; Jacob and Timothy Jones and Deven and Logan Rivera, great-grandson, Stetson Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Monday May 4th at St Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford from 9:15 – 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. and Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of Mass.
