Obituary: Mary Loretta Coleman (Porto Funeral Homes)

Mary Loretta Coleman passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2026 in East Haven, Connecticut surrounded by the love and company of family. Mary was born on June 25th, 1930 to Mary Etta and Richard Donovan in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Mary attended Regis College and Salve Regina University. She married her beloved husband, Paul Coleman, on October 18th, 1952 and found lifelong love for over 60 years.

They lived together in Braintree, MA where they raised a family of eight children. Mary helped to run Bargaineer of Weymouth, MA where she supported in establishing a landmark of discount deals and decades of community connection. Before moving to Duxbury, MA to make beachside memories with her family and neighbors, Mary joined her husband, Paul, on travel adventures across the globe from Hawaii to Italy to Japan and beyond. Their love for each other extended across continents. They eventually retired in the sunshine of Naples, FL where they enjoyed many games of golf with friends.

Mary Coleman is survived by six loving children: Paul Coleman Jr., Richard (Roberta Coleman), John Coleman, Christopher Coleman (Maria De Almeida), Kee O’Brien (Jack O’Brien), and Debra Coleman. As well as her thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren that cared for her dearly. Mary is preceded in death and now surrounded in love by her husband, Paul Coleman, and her three children; Mark Coleman, Mary Coleman, Brian Coleman (Maryanne Vella-Coleman) and granddaughter, Emily Coleman.

Generosity, family, and an unmatched gift for hospitality defined Mary’s life. She had a way of making space for everyone in her home and brought joy and laughter to the neighborhood. Her legacy lives on in every story told, and every act of kindness inspired by her example. Mary’s spirit will continue to shine.
