Woman Shares Warning After Frightening Experience At Milford I-95 Stop

MILFORD, CT — Andrea Tamasi is detailing her experience following a scary moment at a service plaza off I-95 in Milford.

Tamasi, who has over 346,000 followers on TikTok, said in a video that she arrived at the gas station at 7:25 a.m. with her two dogs in the back seat.

She had just finished pumping gas when she opened her driver's side window.

"I see my bag and my phone being lifted into the air," she recounted.

The robber, who was wearing a mask, then jumped into a car that sped away. Tamasi said the whole incident took 10 or 15 seconds.

"In that moment, I'm in complete shock," Tamasi said.

The first person she saw was Richard Abiti. She told him that they took her phone and that she can't call anyone.

She recalled that Abiti said to her, "You're safe and okay and that's what matters."

"I needed someone saying that because I wasn't thinking about that," Tamasi said.

She goes on to say that he was "so kind." He gave her his phone, and she called her parents and the police.

Tamasi said he was like her "guardian angel."

Abiti told WTNH News-8 that Tamasi was "devastated" and that he "just approached her and tried to speak to her and check on her.”

Police came and took her incident report.

Now Tamasi said she's trying to get back to normal. She's sharing her message with others in part as a warning.

"If it isn’t clear, I’m sharing this because I hope others don’t make the same mistake I did," she said. "Lock your doors. Have your bag, phone, and keys on you. Everything I didn’t do, I hope others will do after seeing this so it doesn’t happen to them."
