MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department is hosting its 22nd annual kids fishing derby next month at Wolfe Park. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Great Hollow Lake, located at 454 Purdy Hill Road. The derby is open to children ages 3 to 15, with participants divided into age groups ranging from 5 and under to 12–15 years old. Organizers said prizes will be awarded, including for the largest fish caught in each age group. The event will be held rain or shine.

Stop by between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at 435 Main Street, Monroe (corner of Route 25 and Route 59). We’ll be there rain or shine! Paper Shredding: STILL ONLY $10 for a standard archive box (15”x12”x10”); price increases $5 according to container size.

This is the Annual Asher’s Answer 5K Run/Walk in honor of&nbsp;<a href="https://ashersanswer.org/about/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Asher Nathaniel Gibson.</a>
All proceeds will be used to provide support to our non-profit organization, <a href="https://ashersanswer.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Asher’s Answer</a>, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial support to families of children with rare trisomies.
This year, there will be games and activities for children under age 13, so feel free to bring the entire family!!!
NOTE: For safety and security purposes, race participants must be at least 13 yrs of age. Children younger than that can still come and participate in various games/activities while their parents race, but cannot race. Infant and toddlers may race with their parents only if they are transported in strollers or strapped to parents (ie body carriers).
