The <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064522576444#" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">crash occurred</a> east of the Lake Zoar Drive-In when the motorcycle struck a vehicle that had stopped for traffic, according to police. The rider was transported to a hospital for treatment. Police said their serious accident reconstruction team responded to the scene. The road was closed for several hours and reopened by 6:55 p.m.

The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman chapter, NSDAR is hosting a 45-minute presentation, led by the Volunteer Coordinator for the America250 Rose Parade float, “Soaring Onward Together,” and sponsored by the Semiquincentennial Commission – America250. 
You'll witness an incredible behind-the-scenes look at the entire process of creating the America250 float - from acceptance, design and construction through inspections, decorating, judging, transportation to the parade route, and ultimately the parade itself.Audience members will also have access to previously unseen video footage, as the story unfolds:&nbsp;more than 1,000 volunteers contributing over 7,000 volunteer hours to bring the float to life, in commemoration of our nation’s 250th anniversary!

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. Our schedule of remaining in-person (and livestreamed) services are:
Yom Kippur Kol Nidre Service, Sunday, September 20th at 7:30 pm
Yom Kippur Memorial and Closing Service, Monday, September 21st at 5:00 pm.
In-person or livestream options are available. Non-members must pre-register on CHJ's website, no later than Thursday, September 17, for location details. While our services are free of charge, we kindly ask non-members to consider a donation.
As the only Humanistic Jewish congregation in Connecticut, CHJ celebrates Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with a Humanistic liturgy, beautiful live music (song leader and instrumental), and inspirational poetry and readings.
Our services strike a balance between the broad stream of Judaism and a secular humanistic view of Jewish culture and customs. They are unique and spiritually uplifting and allow one to reflect on the year that has passed and the promise of the new year to come.
CHJ is affiliated with the Society for Humanistic Judaism (shj.org), part of a movement that celebrates Jewish culture and heritage through a non-theistic, human-centered approach. Our membership reflects a diverse group of people who enrich our community.
