Motorcyclist Dies In I-84 Crash In Waterbury, ID Released

State police are searching for any witnesses to the accident.

WATERBURY, CT — A city man was killed Sunday morning when his motorcycle crashed into a guardrail and bridge parapet on I-84, state police said.

Police identified the victim as Enrique Antonio Rivera, 35, of 341 Highland Dr., Waterbury.

The accident happened at about 9:55 a.m. on I-84 eastbound in the vicinity of Exit 23, according to police.

The victim was operating a Yamaha YZF-R7 motorcycle when it departed the highway, entered the right shoulder, and hit the guardrail and bridge parapet for the South Main Street overpass, state police said.

Upon impact, the operator was thrown from the motorcycle, and he sustained fatal injuries, according to police. The motorcycle capsized onto its side and came to rest on the highway’s right shoulder.

The highway was closed for about six hours while police conducted an investigation.
