Naugatuck Police Issue Post-Blizzard Clean Up Reminder

A major snowstorm brought large amounts of snow across the state Sunday into Monday afternoon.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Naugatuck Police Department issued a post-blizzard clean up reminder for residents Tuesday following a major snowstorm that impacted the state Sunday into Monday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, police urged residents to "please keep working on cleanup as you're able" in light of the heavy amount of snow left behind by the storm.

Police also noted the department was aware residents need extra time to clear sidewalks and shovel out vehicles post-blizzard.

According to police, property owners are responsible for clearing the sidewalks in front of their homes and businesses, and vehicles parked on the street should not be left covered or surrounded by snow.

The department asks residents to clean and move their vehicles to allow plows to move the snow from the roadway.

Residents are also asked not to shovel snow into the roadway, according to police.

"As the week progresses, we will coordinate with our [Department of Public Works] crews to ensure sidewalks are cleared or vehicles impeding snow removal are moved," police wrote on Facebook. "We appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience. Stay safe!"
